I've known Walt for a few years now and when he contacted me about a couples photography session with a slight twist, I was ready to jump right in. He said he wanted a country theme for their couples session, but also that Jessica doesn't realize it's not just couples photos. He had a little twist for the session.
Before Walt and his girlfriend Jessica arrived, Sonja and I scouted out various locations throughout the park to find the best spots for their session. We found several locations and then one special location that we felt was a perfect spot to pull off Walt's twist.
Once Walt, Jessica and baby Hunter arrived, I told them I would be doing some videography also so I could have some behind the scenes footage for my website. As we began to shoot we captured some precious moments on video and in photos with the two of them and the family. I made sure to point the video camera at them often so they became used to it and there was no shyness.
There were a lot of people at the park today which created a challenge. When we arrived to a nice open spot that we had previously scouted – The location was swarming with people. We wondered if we were going to have an audience for this part of our session. As we set up the shot, the onlookers started to pass by and the moment was quiet and peaceful. Sonja offered to take Baby Hunter so we could capture a few more couples photos and to allow Walt time to setup his twist.
As Jessica turned around to face Walt, his eyes lit up as this was the moment he had planned. He then dropped to one knee and proposed to Jessica. Her face and eyes beamed with love as she said yes. This couples session had now turned into a proposal. A proposal to turn this couple in to an official and whole family.
